This time last year, I was writing my first post in my head, trying to figure out how the heck to do the technical part of setting up a blog, and, you know, having a 10-week-old baby. I can say without a doubt that this is the best hobby/fake job I’ve ever had! I love (love, love, love) sharing recipes with you, planning out what we’ll cook next (I mean, what could be more fun than lists and self-imposed deadlines and more lists?), and especially hearing from you after you’ve tried something!
Now for the moment we’ve all been waiting for – here are the top 5 posts from this year!
#5: Breakfast Cookies. Yep. Any time of day, these cookies are a little mini-meal packed full of healthy ingredients. I love them and we eat them often!
#4: Grilled Chicken. It really is the best. Have you made it yet?? The sauce only has 4 ingredients!! It was even featured on Foodgawker (so it’s practically famous, in other words).
#3: Carnitas (the ultimate crowd-pleasing, make-ahead, freezer-friendly party meal). It really is all that and more! Definitely one of my absolute favorites. It also wins as the recipe that gets me the most search engine traffic! Thanks, Google!
#2: Roasted Sweet Potatoes. I made these for my just-turned-four-year-old’s birthday dinner this month! One of the easiest side dishes on the site.
#1: Nana’s Potato Soup. Woohoo! I love that Nana’s soup is number one. And those of you who have told me you tried it have made it part of your rotation. I always think it’s fun to try a new recipe, but to find a keeper? The best. Providing you guys with a keeper?? THAT’S MY FAVORITE!
My favorite is also when you leave blog comments and tell me what you liked, loved, didn’t like, or changed when you made a recipe. I heart reading food blogs and I rarely make something unless there are comments from actual people who actually tried it! So when you comment, you give other people courage to try a new recipe, too. Plus, you make my day!
I like when you “like” and comment on Facebook, too (those things just don’t stay with the recipe the same way as the Holy Grail blog comments do). But all of your comments, shares, pins, and texts bring me a lot of joy!
If you haven’t signed up for the email list, you can do it in the sidebar (on the right if you’re on a desktop; the bottom if you’re on mobile) – I currently just send out a notification when there’s a new post, but there may be some subscriber perks in the future!!! Join the party! :o) You can also “like” Bet On Dinner on Facebook, and follow me on Instagram, Pinterest, and Twitter! The links are under my picture on the sidebar (again, right side on a desktop; bottom on mobile).
Don’t forget to put your name in the hat for the Salted Chocolate Chip Cookie Mix GIVEAWAY! And here’s to another year of good food, and welcoming family and friends to the table with it!

P.S. I also love that you care so much about feeding your family well, and are encouraging others in practical ways to do that, too.

I love your blog. It is fun to real and inspiring. Your posts make me want to run to the kitchen to create. I also love that it allows me to stay in touch with you now that we live on opposite ends of the state.

Bet!! Happy 1 year anniversary… I love this blog so much. It has become my go-to food blog. Your style and taste are right up my alley, and the instructions that you provide are so simple and accurate! We have become super dependent on you… even Kris knows you are my go-to for recipes. Case in point: yesterday when I was taking my boards, I realized that I’d forgotten to tell my husband what was on the meal plan. I figured I would come home to a box of pizza, but much to my surprise, Kris found my meal plan document on dropbox, and figured he could find the recipe for “Back Pocket Chicken” by looking on your website. Needless to say, he stuck to the plan and showed me that I had nothing to worry about! Thanks again for going on this adventure… can’t wait for more “deeeee-wicious” goodness from you!

I finally have (I mean made) time to read your blog from the beginning!! I love food blogs, and I love that I can say that I knew you before you became famous. Thanks for the inspiration!!! I’ve pinned several things, and I cannot wait to try them.

Haha, yay!! You’ll have to let me know if you what you guys think when you’ve had a chance to try something! :o)

I simultaneously can’t believe it’s been a whole year AND can’t believe it’s only been one year. I must confess to actually going to your site to get a recipe, even when it’s one I already own in another format. On the same computer. But when I go to BetOnDinner.com to access it, I can read the happy commentary (again) first! 🙂 Congrats, sis!

Haha, this is the best!! And thanks! You’re like, my blogging role model!
