Freezer Meals

I 💛 freezer meals. And there’s no right or wrong way to use your freezer to help get dinner on the table! You can do a marathon cooking session where you cook and freeze a ton of meals at once. You can freeze “building blocks” to future meals, like shredded cooked chicken or cooked rice. You can make bags of uncooked ingredients to throw in a crockpot in the morning. I love to stock my freezer gradually – making a big batch of spaghetti sauce or chili or carnitas and freezing the leftovers for another meal later. That way I have dinner for tonight – and one tucked away! I wrote a lot of words about it in this post – Six Weeks to a Stocked Freezer.

I also love to have some easy breakfast foods in the freezer. Things like muffins are also fun in a lunchbox – you don’t even have to thaw in advance! Check out this post for freezable breakfast foods!

I used to be a freezer meal hoarder – like, I would actually make a dinner that I had IN MY FREEZER because I didn’t want to let go of that rainy day meal. No. Stop it. Having a third child definitely cured me of that craziness (while simultaneously making me crazier overall? Hmm.) Now when I’m meal planning, I love to slot in a freezer meal on a busy night or just to give myself a break! And as we’ve gotten stricter with our grocery budget, it’s nice to be able to pull something out at the end of the month when I’m counting my pennies.

In conclusion: freezer meals save you time, stress, and money! Pop a little something in your freezer this week – you’ll be glad you did!
