Taco Meat

**This post is brought to you by my sister, Laurie!!**
This is a super-easy recipe, made with pantry staples. It comes together quickly and can easily be doubled for a crowd. (And I think it even fits Bet’s Faster-than-Fast-Food rules.)

Step One: Brown the ground beef or turkey with the chopped onion. Drain.
Step Two: Add the tomato sauce, chili and garlic powders, and salt. Cover and simmer for 10 minutes. (Hint: This gives you plenty of time to make JP’s 6 Ingredient Salsa in the Blender!)

Step Three: Serve. Now, if you’re in my family, this is where things get interesting. Some of us do a taco salad, some do soft tacos, and the little people like to eat mini tacos made out of Tostitos Scoops.

But all of us need plenty of homemade salsa!

By the way, this is also an easy meal to take to a friend, whether it’s a new baby or illness in the family. When I take this meal to someone, I send the taco meat, a bag of lettuce, a bag of Scoops, soft tacos, a jar of salsa, shredded cheese, and other toppings (like tomatoes, black beans, corn), and let the individual family serve it up as they see fit.

And for you blender salsa-makers, do you know the blender-washing Pro Tip? Wherein you squirt a drop of dish soap in the blender, fill it up halfway with hot water, and then blend the soapy water till it’s frothy and clean. Then just rinse!
