Freezable Breakfast Foods.

In case I haven’t plugged my affection for freezer meals lately, here’s a little roundup of my favorite freezable breakfast foods! Mornings with my three girls range from truly idyllic (picture us snuggled up reading library books, then enjoying a healthy breakfast together and efficiently getting ready for the day) to, um, a little chaotic (I’m sure you can fill in the blanks here). Actually, I’m not sure we’ve ever actually achieved that ideal morning – maybe 2 out 3?? In other words, we tend to hang out on the “chaotic” end of the spectrum.

So yes, I’m the [frazzled, still-in-my-pjs] mom who rushes around in the morning thinking how smart it would be to pack lunches the night before, but I’ve never once done it, and it’s March, so it’s not really looking good. But!! I do like to have a few different easy breakfast options in the freezer. We all have our strengths, and it appears that muffins are one of mine.

Healthy Banana Applesauce Muffins

We love these healthy banana applesauce muffins – made with whole wheat flour and sweetened with honey!

Whole Wheat Banana Bran Muffins

These bran muffins only have 1 teaspoon of (added) sugar in each muffin! They have a great light texture, too.

Bran Muffins

Speaking of bran, these classic bran muffins are so hearty and delicious! Raisins add an extra dose of sweetness.

Whole Wheat Cinnamon Chip Muffins

These whole wheat cinnamon chip muffins are a little sweeter, but they’re 100% whole grain and have a cup of applesauce mixed to keep things moist and light!

Breakfast Cookies

I love these breakfast cookies for a dose of healthy fat and protein from the nut butter. Plus, is there anything more fun than cookies for breakfast?!

Whole Wheat Pancakes

These whole wheat pancakes are easy to freeze – once they’re cool, I freeze them between layers of waxed paper and then it’s easy to pop ’em out the bag and reheat a few (I usually microwave to thaw and then put them in the toaster oven for a little bit).

Bacon

And last but certainly not least – bacon! Bacon is a freezer miracle. It crisps up beautifully on a little foil in the toaster oven in just a couple of minutes. If you want bacon for your freezer, I recommend cooking 2 packages in the oven (just rotate the pans halfway through) so you can freeze some!

Thank you, frozen breakfast foods, for nudging us away from utter chaos and back toward controlled chaos. I’ll take it. 😉
