It’s summer, we’re on vacation this week, and also I started a new little part-time job. There hasn’t been much blogging, but there has been ice cream. And so I decided it was probably, definitely worthwhile to compile a list of my favorites for you, you captive audience, you!
Haagen-Dazs Dulce de Leche, aka the ice cream that inspired this list. Y’all, it’s just So Good. Also now my grocery store keeps giving me coupons for $1.50 off 3 pints, which is somewhere between being gloriously known and cared for and enabling an addiction….
Publix Premium Mint Chocolate Chip is my favorite mint chocolate chip ice cream for one extremely important reason: those chocolate shavings. No hard, waxy chunks of chocolate that stick in your teeth – just sweet, flavorful shavings that melt in your mouth with the ice cream. Ugh, it’s so good.
Harris Teeter likes to test my self-control by offering a “buy 2 get 3 free” deal on ice cream. I inevitably get sucked in, always reassuring myself that I will obviously just Enjoy Some Occasionally, and keep it on hand for When We Have People Over. <–these are all lies, LIES! I will eat Southern Milk Chocolate ice cream every night, preferably in a sweating mason jar with a splash of milk, until it’s all gone. It’s like a Frosty but awesomer.
We don’t do big grocery store trips at Whole Foods, but it’s definitely in the grocery store rotation (why are there like 7 stores in this rotation?!). I get bulk pantry items, ground chuck for burgers, and we love to take the family “out to dinner” there at the hot bar. And also, they happen to have the best cookies & cream ice cream there is.
Trader Joe’s wins for best coffee ice cream – it’s so much more coffee-y than most, in such a good way. Love. HOWEVER, if they weren’t seasonal, those little Hold The Cone mini ice cream cones with pumpkin ice cream and peppermint ice cream would have been my #1.
So that’s my top…6! Because of course 6! Now please, please, chime in with your favorites. Be specific, I’ll probably have to do a taste test for Research Purposes, In the Name of Science….
