Y’all. Boise is a lot colder than…well, Florida or North Carolina, where I spent the last 25 years of my life. It hasn’t been as bad as I feared before we moved here…thanks in part to a few of my favorite cold-weather items. If you like neutral colors and hate being cold, read on.
This fleece. I wear the heck out of this thing. I treat it like a bathrobe in the mornings, feel cute when I wear it out, and sometimes I’m so cozy that I don’t realize I didn’t put on a coat until we’re out the door, and I’m often warm enough with just this. (Also, one of the reviewers talked about feeling like a “majestic polar bear” when she wears it, and I can’t not think about that and feel an inner delight.) I have a large and it’s perfect – I have broad shoulders and I get claustrophobic if my layers are constricting.
This gray t-shirt. It’s great for layering, it feels like pjs but looks cute with jeans, and it’s practically perfect in every way (other than the price, ouch). I have this in a medium and I don’t even know what makes it so good. If it was a little less $ I would buy many, many more of this exact shirt in this exact color and wear it every day.
Wool socks. So, I had never owned these before? Toms with no socks was my “winter” shoe most of my NC life (until I finally bought tall boots riiiight before everyone else bought ankle boots, sigh). A friend here gave me my first pair of wool socks for Christmas and I wore them every day for like 5 days before I broke down and washed them. They’re just so warm and lovely. I have this Smartwool pair and this L.L. Bean pair. 10/10 recommend.
These jeans, if I’m leaving the house. I’m ruined and can only wear jeans with whatever sorcery “TENCEL” is. They never get bagged out!
These joggers, if I’m home. I have a much-maligned, much-loved pair of thrift store sweatpants that I’ve had since college. We call ’em The Browns and they had a long life before they met me, and they’ve had a long life since. I’m not quite ready to call it quits, but I needed to start breaking in a replacement and I like these sweats a lot. I ordered a small and a medium and then ended up keeping both.
Honorable mention goes to this gray sweater. It’s soft and I love the hemline. I get compliments every time I wear this. (idk, maybe people are just glad I’m not wearing my polar bear fleece?) Only con is that it’s a little snag-able. You probably shouldn’t buy it unless it’s at least 40% off, I think that’s the rule with all Gap/Old Navy/LOFT/etc.
Apparently I’m not enough of an influencer for these to be affiliate links, guys. Rude, right?! lol. So if you buy them, you’re bringing yourself joy and coziness, and no cash comes to me. 😘

Thanks friend! The joggers are the most-clicked link on this post – in case I wasn’t sure my people were reading this blog, now I know for sure. 😆
